Fit Deck Exercise Cards
A friend was telling me about FitDeck cards the other day so I ran out and bought a deck. I love them! They are the perfect solution if you are bored with your workout.
You can shuffle the FitDeck cards and do the first 10 exercises in the deck or you can go through the deck and put together a different set of cards for different days of the week. If you buy different decks you can mix and match exercises.
Every FitDeck card contains about 1 minute of exercise depending on your level. You still need to warm up before you exercise and stretch at the end of your workout.
Each FitDeck card has the name of the exercise, a graphic demonstrating how the exercise should be done, which part of your body is being exercised, ability level with suggested time or repetitions and step-by-step instructions.
FitDeck actually makes exercise simple – now there is no excuseWith the bodyweight cards you do not need any equipment. There are a number of different decks available some of which require equipment such as dumbbells, an exercise ball, etc.

Socks, Socks and More Socks
Walking socks, hiking socks, running socks, tennis socks, golf socks, aerobics socks, ski socks - there are socks made for each and every sport, and each one is slightly different. There are thick socks, thin socks, socks that are thick in the heel and thin in the toe and some that are just the opposite.
Not only do you have to worry about the design of the sock based on your sport but you have to consider style. Do you prefer knee hi socks, crew socks, mini-crews or socks with little balls at the heel? You can buy socks made specifically for women or men or unisex socks.
I have a whole drawer dedicated to socks and they are in a rainbow of colors. Although most are white, I also have black, brown and even bright pink socks.

Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor
A heart rate monitor can help you achieve the maximum benefit from your walking program. I use the Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor. I have to admit that I like Omron products. I now own an Omron pedometer, blood pressure monitor and heart rate monitor. One benefit to Omron products is that their manuals are all available on-line so I don't have to remember where I put them.
The Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor allows you to track your heart rate while you walk, jog or use a piece of exercise equipment. The Omron HR-100C comes with a mounting bracket that you can attach to a stationary bike, treadmill, or other piece of exercise equipment.
It is important to know your heart rate when you are exercising and it is most important when you are walking because many of us have a tendency to stroll at some point in our walk. Unlike walking on a treadmill where you have all sorts of displays telling you how hard you are working out, walking on your own is self-regulated.

Top 3 Walking Gifts From Discover Walking
Walking gifts are perfect for the walker in your family, office or circle of friends. We all struggle with what to buy someone that will be used and appreciated rather than stuffed into a closet.
I looked at the list of items people have purchased through Discover Walking over the last year. Three products have proven to be most popular and all three make perfect gifts.
The biggest seller has been the Omron HJ112 Premium Pedometer. This is no surprise, it is a great product, walkers love them and they sell for less than $20. You will either be surprise by how much you actually walk in a day or by how little ground you cover. A friend of mine who works in retail wears one so they can keep track of how many miles they walk around the store in a day.

Bill Bryson – A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
Bill Bryson's, A Walk in the Woods is for everyone who has ever dreamed of walking the Appalachian Trail but knows in the back of their mind that it is not going to happen. If you are the kind of hiker who has actually considered going with less water just so you could fit in a bottle of wine then this book is for you.
Bill Bryson moved to a small town in New Hampshire after living abroad for twenty years. He and his college roommate, Stephen Katz, decide to rediscover America by walking the Appalachian Trail (hence the title). Neither Bill Bryson nor Stephen Katz is in any shape to even consider such an undertaking, but consider it they do. A Walk in the Woods is the story of their hilarious adventures and encounters when they attempt to walk the entire length of the Appalachian Train from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.
Bill Bryson's, A Walk in the Woods is the perfect book to read or listen to whether you enjoy a leisurely stroll through your neighborhood or are preparing to follow in these two intrepid souls footsteps on the AT (as the Appalachian Trail is known).

Omron Blood Pressure Monitor
The Omron blood pressure monitor is a must have item for anyone watching their blood pressure. It cannot get any easier: just wrap the cuff around your arm, press start and you will get your blood pressure reading.
Many people who walk, do so because they are trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Burning calories is the primary reason most people exercise. Keeping your blood pressure in check should be an equally important goal.
What is blood pressure? Blood pressure is a way of measuring how much force is being exerted on the walls of your blood vessels (artery) as blood flows through them.
The top number is called Systolic and it is the pressure exerted as your heart contracts or beats. A reading of less than 120mm Hg is normal.
