The Way Movie Review – Emilio Estevez & Martin Sheen

The Way will inspire you to walk

On a golf course Tom hears the news no father ever wants to hear . . .  his son  has died in a Pyrenees storm while walking the Camino de Santiago.Tom had been invited to join his son on the trip but Tom had not only refused but criticized his son’s decision.

Tom’s healing journey begins when he travels to St. Jean Pied de Port, France  to gather the remains.  On the spur of the moment, this inexperienced trekker decides to carry his son’s  ashes to complete his pilgrimage.

Isolated in his grief, Tom starts his journey alone.  Despite his best efforts  to push others away, three hikers tag along on his journey.  In normal circumstances these lives and personalities would never connect. However, the complexity of their personalities make them perfect companions for Tom and along The Way of Saint James  bonds develop.

Martin Sheen plays Tom and Emilio Estevez plays the son who appears in flash backs

Emilio Estevez wrote and directed The Way.  He makes you feel like you are walking with them enjoying breathtaking scenery, wonderful meals, and experiencing a journey with friends.

Many of us have never heard of Camino de Santiago until this movie but there will be many new pilgrims wanting to take the journey because of this movie.  It is one of my favorite movies of all times and you will be inspired to put on your walking shoes.

Didn’t think The Way would be such a good movie. It was one of my favorite movies this year. Now I want to go hike Camino de Santiago.

This was best actor material by Martin Sheen. The actors made the movie. You felt like you were on the pilgrimage with them
