Dog Rescues Woman During Christmas Neighborhood Walk

I woke up early a few days ago and decided to start the day as I always do, with a walk. It was dark out and cold so I put on my coat and gloves, grabbed some dog cookies for my pocket, hooked Jaycee to her leash and grabbed my key with the LED light attached. Out the door we went.

I decided since it was so early and traffic was light that we would head to the left and across the main street which was deserted at that time of day.

One of the nice things about walking in the dark was that most of the houses had their Christmas lights on. On we walked with me enjoying the lights and Jaycee happy that it was finally cool.

And then it happened, we turned the corner and there stood a huge inflatable Frosty the Snowman

Not only that, the whole street must have been having some sort of inflatable Christmas decoration contest. There had to be 50 inflatable decorations on both sides of the street.

Accomplices Were Behind Every Tree

Accomplices Were Lurking in the Shadows

I was impressed, but Jaycee recognized the enemy had us surrounded.

Accomplices were lurking in the shadows.  She started barking and going into attack mode.

Jaycee is no Chihuahua.  She is a 78 pound mixed breed rescue so when she decides to walk in one direction it is hard to get her headed in another direction. On we walked, with Jaycee barking and charging the Christmas decorations.  My nice, peaceful walk a memory.

It was just starting to get light as we neared the end of the street and a number of the decorations that must have been on a timer started to deflate.  Realizing that victory was at hand, Jaycee was beside herself barking and spinning around in a circle.

Finally, she spun around and looked at me with narrowed eyes as if to say “see I told you they were unpredictable and dangerous.”

Christmas Scene

After Jaycee realized she had neutralized our threat, we headed home; me tired from hanging on to a lunging bunch of muscle and Jaycee with ears up on high alert just in case there was another Christmas decoration needing to be destroyed.
